lost & found

Somewhere along the way we lost our voice. We lost the ability to say those uncomfortable things and we lost the right to stand up for what we deserved. Somewhere along the way we became comfortable with being second, and being mistreated. The old folks will tell you if you have the pu$$y you have the power, but the young girls know different. Pu$$y is a dime a dozen, and no matter how great your tricks may be, at the end of the day it's still available in abundance. Somewhere we became complacent in fighting for basic gentlemanly treatment, and have evolved into a place where it's acceptable to openly discuss sex with a woman you are trying to impress, not pay on the first date or open the door, and to be subjected to just piss poor treatment.

Somewhere along the way we lost the ability to have the hard conversations, to say what needed to be said. We lost the capacity to face the inevitable and end pointless interactions. We've gained the unfortunate ability to be strung along, knowingly and silently, enduring a heartbreaking existence. We've learned how to settle for being second best.

Somewhere along the way we lost the ability to realize what we deserve, and to expect such.

Somewhere along the we way, we got lost.
